VIDEO SUMMARY WITH ADDITIONAL POINTS:

Listen To Understand - One of the reasons why we have trouble knowing what to say next is because we aren’t listening to the other person we’re talking to. Instead of listening we are busy trying to predict and plan what to say next. Listen attentively to the person speaking and you will be able to continue the conversation off of something interesting they said.

Hang Out More Often - One of the best ways to get better at showing your true personality is by going out and being social as often as possible. Go on dates, attend parties, brunches, or any social event. Being around people is a skill and you only get better by actually doing it.

Be Prepared - Never try to plan out an entire conversation because that will never work. However, there is nothing wrong with having a few go-to questions ready that you can ask at any given time. Here are some examples:
* Tell me about yourself. What are your passions?
* My favorite food is (insert favorite food). Do your taste buds agree?
* Where are you from? Do you live around the area?
* Where was the coolest place you’ve traveled to?

Be More Transparent - Be willing to share personal stories about yourself when applicable. These things make people feel more connected with you because they feel like they know you personally. The more connected people are with you the more they are willing to invest in having a good conversation. That’s why it’s significantly easier to talk with a close friend you’re connected to versus a stranger you met on the train.

Give Yourself Permission To Have Fun - Conversations shouldn’t always be stressful. Allow yourself to show your true personality without critiquing yourself. This can be easier said than done, but the more you make an effort to do so the easier it will come.
