Description from the creator

There is a rational progression of increasing granularity over the seven characters of ICD-10 that will allow you to logically code your diagnosis. The structure of ICD-10 characters for coding is defined in a specific way. Characters 1-3 are the category, characters 4-7 are the etiology, anatomic site, severity, or other clinical detail, and character 7 can be an extension.

ICD-10 coding tips are presented by Tom Gehring, CEO of San Diego County Medical Society.
