Find out how to log out of the WhatsApp messaging app on your iPhone or Android smartphone. We'll show you how to remove yourself from WhatsApp.

Unfortunately WhatsApp doesn’t have a feature that allows you to log out of the app, as the app just links to your phone number instead of having you sign up like you would on most other messaging apps. The only way to effectively sign out of whatsapp is to delete your account. This process is the same for both iPhone and Android.

In order to remove your phone number from WhatsApp, open WhatsApp and tap Settings. Then select Account. Tap Delete My Account. Enter your phone number, then tap Delete My Account. Tap Next. Finally, tap Delete My Account to confirm. This will take you back to the WhatsApp start page.

Doing this will delete your message history and remove you from any group chats you may have been included in. Unfortunately since there is no option to sign out, this is the only option if you want to stop using the app. You can sign up to start using the app again at any time, but your conversations will not be carried over.
