In this excel tutorial you will learn how you can move an entire row or column in excel without overwriting the existing data.

Suppose you are moving Column C to Column A. Now column a definitely have data that could be overwritten by your new data. But we are going to learn move data in excel without replacing existing data in this tutorial. That means column C will be placed at column A and Column A will be to column B.

Step 1: Select the rows or column
Step 2: Right click or use keyboard shortcut to copy or cut rows/columns
Step 3: Right click on the row/column where you want to paste the data
Step 4: Select insert copied/cut cells
