Description from the creator

Granite countertops are held down with silicone caulk and occasionally adhesive — no bolts. With the right tools and two people, you can remove a granite slab in under an hour without damaging the cabinets.

WHAT YOU NEED:
→ Utility knife or oscillating tool (to cut the silicone seal)
→ Suction cup handles or a granite-moving dolly (granite is 15–20 lbs per sq ft)
→ A helper — never attempt this solo on a large slab
STEP-BY-STEP:
1. Disconnect and cap the plumbing under the sink
2. Cut the silicone bead around the perimeter with a utility knife
3. Use an oscillating tool to break any adhesive along the front edge
4. Lift straight up with suction handles — have a helper support each end
5. Set the slab on moving blankets
PRO TIP: Score the silicone from underneath first — the top bead is just for looks. The real hold is the underside caulk against the cabinet rail.
