Description from the creator

To install a freestanding tub, rough in the plumbing supply lines and drain before finishing the floor — the tub filler must be installed first because it sits between the tub and wall. Full process below.

STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS:
1. Locate or install plumbing supply lines and drain "Y" connection
2. Install the tub filler (floor-mount faucet) and connect to supply lines before finishing the floor
3. Finish flooring, leaving an open cavity where the tub will sit
4. Connect the tub drain to the drain line
5. Test for leaks
6. Apply silicone to the tub base or feet
7. Set the tub in place and allow silicone to cure
A freestanding or slipper tub adds major visual impact to a master bathroom. If you're doing a full bath renovation, the tub filler rough-in is the step most people get wrong — plan it before tile goes down.
PRO TIP: Floor-mount tub fillers are heavy. Pre-install the supply connections before you set the tub — you won't be able to reach them after.
