Some of you may have old paneling and wonder "What can I do with this old wood paneling?" You could prime and paint it, prime and skim coat it or do like I did and cover it with drywall. Covering old paneling with sheetrock is probably the quickest and easiest solution.

I chose 3/8" drywall to update this old wood paneling. 1/4" shows too many imperfections in my opinion. If you have perfect walls, then it will work great. These walls were not that perfect. This is just one wood paneling cover up ideas.

Since I was working by myself to cover this hideous paneling, I didn't want to use 1/2". This project cost less than $100 in materials. With labor, about $1200 for 2.5 days. It took 5 sheets of 3/8" drywall to do this wall.

Covering old wood paneling with drywall will give you a nice, crisp, modern feel to the room!
