How to Cut & Peel Hong (Persimmons)
Channel6262742Description from the creator
There are two kinds of Hong or Persimmons: Hong gion or Fuyu; which is firm, crunchy and sweet. Hong deo or Hahiya, which has an astringent taste when it's not fully ripe. When buying Fuyu, pick ones that are firm, with red color all around. Wash it and eat it whole as you would an apple, but I like it better peeled because, unlike apples, persimmon skin is a little tough to chew. Buy Hahiya firm and red, let it sit for a few days until it's very very soft before eating. Both kinds are delicious and sweet.
