Amazon makes it easy to register devices with your Amazon account, whether these are physical hardware devices such as the Kindle Fire, Echo, or Echo Dot, or non-Amazon devices that you register for use with either the Kindle or Audible mobile apps. However, when the time comes that you want to get rid those devices, you want to make sure and deregister them so they are no longer associated with your Amazon account. Failing to deregister devices means someone could potentially use those devices with your account, which could give them access to very sensitive information. In this video I'll show you how to deregister an Amazon device on both the Amazon website and the Amazon mobile app for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.
First let's walk through how to deregister an Amazon device using the Amazon mobile app for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.
Step 1. Tap to launch the Amazon mobile app. You'll arrive at your Amazon home page.
Step 2. Tap the "Menu" icon in the upper left corner of the screen. A menu flys in from the left side of the screen.
Step 3. Tap "Your Account" in the list of menu options. Another menu screen appears.
Step 4. Tap "Content and Devices" in the Account Settings section. The Manage Your Content and Devices screen appears.
Step 5. Choose "Devices" in the list of menu options running along the top of the screen. The Devices options will appear on the lower part of the screen.
Step 6. Tap the Device drop-down menu, and then select the device you want to deregister. Tap "Deregister." A Deregister this Device window appears on the screen.
Step 7. Tap "Deregister" in the Deregister this Device window. The window disappears and is replaced by a message that says your device is queued for deregistration. After the device is deregistered, the message will disappear and you'll be returned to the Manage Your Content and Devices screen, where the device you deregistered will no longer appear in your list of registered Amazon devices.
Now let's walk through the steps to deregister an Amazon device using the Amazon website.
Step 1. Open a web browser, navigate to Amazon.com, and then log in to your Amazon account. You'll arrive at your Amazon home screen.
Step 2. Click "Accounts and Lists" in the upper right corner of the screen. A drop-down menu appears.

Step 6. Click "Deregister" in the list of options that appear on the lower part of the information screen. A Deregister This Device window appears.
Step 7. Click the "Deregister" button in this window. The window disappears and is replaced by a message that says your device is queued for deregistration. After the device is deregistered, the message will disappear and you'll be returned to the Manage Your Content and Devices screen, where the device you deregistered will no longer appear in your list of registered Amazon devices.
