To start your DIY project and learn how to apply epoxy floor paint, follow the below steps:
0:00 Introduction
0:45 Sweep the floor to ensure it is free from dust and dirt
0:57 Mix the base satin coat with the power mixer
1:02 Calculate how much product you need - with a ratio of one to one satin to clear hardener
1:27 Start by painting the edges of the area with the satin product using a paintbrush
1:32 With the paint roller, apply the first coat over 5 square meters per litre
1:54 After completing each 5 square meter subarea, broadcast the flakes to the wet paint until covered while leaving ~150mm from the edge to allow for the overlap of the roller in the next subarea
2:07 Using a dry foam roller, lightly roll over the flaked surface to embed the flakes into the base coat
2:16 Continue the same process until the entire floor is complete
2:40 Once the surface is dry, sweep or vacuum any loose flakes
2:46 Mix the epoxy clear coat (Note: you must apply the epoxy within 1 hour of mixing, if the temperature is 25 degrees celsius) - with a ratio of one to one epoxy to clear hardener
3:06 Apply the first coat of epoxy clear in the same process as the satin base coat, and at a rate of 5 square meters per litre
3:18 Once dry, apply the second coat of epoxy clear
3:22 If the floor is exposed to direct sunlight, apply the Ultimate Polyurethane Coatings (after the first epoxy coat) to protect the surface from UV
3:41 Allow 7 days for the surface to cure for maximum protection
