The fade effect in Photoshop can create some really interesting results and it's pretty simple to fade two images together.

Choose the two images you like to fade and bring them into one photoshop project. Add a layer mask to one of them. Then use the gradient tool with a black and white gradient to fade two images together in photoshop. That's it!
