Video Transcript:
Hi. I'm Max Dalton, and in this video I'm going to talk through how to locate the IMEI number on an iPhone or iPad.

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. The IMEI number is a unique number that is forever tied to a specific device and is used to determine the type of network the phone operates on. While the number can be used to verify an individual's ownership of a specific device at a specific time, an IMEI number is not specifically associated with a user. If you need to dig up your IMEI number for your iPhone or iPad, there are a few different ways you can do it.

Find iPhone IMEI Using Phone App
Step 1. Open the Phone app on your iPhone.

Step 2. Enter "*#06#" in the keypad. Your device's IMEI number automatically appears on the screen. If you want to make a note of it, you'll need to write it down because you can't copy it within the Phone app.

Step 3. Tap "Dismiss" when you've made a note of the IMEI number and want to return to the Phone app.

Find IMEI in iTunes
Step 1. Connect your device to a computer with iTunes on it using the Lightning cable, and then launch iTunes.

Step 2. Click either the smartphone or tablet icon in the upper left corner of the screen directly beneath the iTunes menu. The details associated with your device appear on the right side of the iTunes program window.

Step 3. Click the "Phone Number" field if you have an iPhone to change it to display the IMEI number. Alternatively, if you have an iPad, click the "Serial Number" field until it displays the IMEI number.

Settings App
Step 1. Tap to launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.

Step 2. Select "General," and then choose "About."

Step 3. Scroll down to the IMEI field, where the device's IMEI number is displayed.
