After a bad breakup, it can seem impossible to get your ex back. All the fighting, hurt feelings, and things that you regret saying or doing can seem like an impossible obstacle to overcome.

But if you want to know how to get your ex back after a bad break up, there are really only 3 things you need to focus on.

First, you need to focus on clearing away hurt feelings from what happened. If your ex is holding on to pain and hurt feelings from things you said or did, they will not be emotionally able to open up to the possibility of connecting with you.

Until you are able to clear away the feelings of hurt and pain, your ex is going to be closed to you.

So do what you need to. Apologize, take responsibility, whatever you need to do to get past the pain.

Second, your ex needs to know that they can have a strong emotional connection with you if you are going to get back together.

No one wants to be in a relationship where you can’t connect emotionally and share a strong connection with your partner, and this includes your ex.

So, you have to show your ex that there is something positive to step into if the two of you are going to get back together. Simply fixing the problems that existed before is not compelling enough to get back together.

So focus on having positive interactions that bring the two of you closer together.

Thirdly, you must remove any friction that is keeping the two of you apart. Friction is a term that applies to any sort of circumstance that may be keeping the two of you apart.

This would be, for example, a rebound relationship. If your ex is in a relationship with someone else, then they obviously can’t be in a relationship with you as long as they are in that rebound relationship. So you want to do what you need to do in order to resolve any friction between the two of you.
