How to Grow Microgreens - Full walk-through with TIPS & TRICKS on Red Acre Cabbage!! - On The Grow

How to grow microgreens from seed to harvest, start to finish. Mandi grows a full tray of Red Acre cabbage on coco coir, 21 grams of seed to a 287 gram harvest on day 13.

Every step is on camera in real time. The three trays you need and why, breaking down a coco coir brick, filling and leveling it, seeding evenly, and misting at planting. Then 15 pounds of weight for three days, three days of blackout, and into light on day 6.

From there it is bottom watering with Ocean Solution 2-0-3, starting at half a cup and building to two cups as the tray drinks more. Day by day check-ins show what the tray should look like at each stage, including how to spot dry areas in the coco coir.

Harvest is day 13. We show the signals that told us it was time, how to cut without crushing the stems, why we harvest high above the medium, and why part of the canopy came in short. Final weight was 287 grams. We finish by checking the root mat, then bagging, labeling, and refrigerating.

Red Acre cabbage is a brassica, so this process carries over to broccoli, kale, and kohlrabi with only small timing changes.

❓ COMMON QUESTIONS

How much cabbage seed do I need per tray?
We used 21 grams in this grow, which is roughly two tablespoons. It came in slightly dense, so we would use 17 grams next time.

How long do cabbage microgreens take to grow?
This tray went seed to harvest in 13 days: three days under weight, three days in blackout, light from day 6 on. Your timing shifts with temperature and light.

Why are some of my microgreens shorter than the rest?
That is usually late germination inside a canopy that is too dense, which is what happened here. Lowering the seeding rate is the fix.
