Playing a sport is not only a great way to stay active, but it's also a great way to make some new friends. Even if you're like me and you're more well suited to the stage than the field, it can still be really fun to play a couple of sports. In high school, I played lacrosse and I did cross country and all through middle school, I played soccer. If your school offers organized sports teams, try out. Warm up before your tryout and show up ready to give it your all. Remember, if you're going to join an organized sports team, that's a commitment. You're committing to show up and give it your 110 percent at practices and at games.
If that's not really your thing, maybe you and your friends can put together a friendship league and agree to play kickball or softball every Wednesday after school. Remember that that's a commitment too, because you want to be there for your friends and show up. If neither of those options really sound like the right way for you to get your sports on, maybe try an individualized sport. Individual sports can range from gymnastics, track and field, horseback riding; anything that suits your interest. All that matters is getting out and getting active.
