Easy way to kill a freshly cut tree stump using roundup or similar herbicide. This should be done soon after cutting down the tree for best results. Use undiluted herbicide (e.g glyphosate) and paint it around the edges of the tree stump where the cambium layer is. I also drill a few holes around the edges to allow for a little extra herbicide to soak in.
