In this tutorial, we will guide you how to restart a Linux Server.
It is recommended that if your Linux server is on a production environment, do not restart the Linux server until and unless you are facing some fatal error. In this step by step guide, we will teach you how to restart your Linux server not only through the user interface but also through the terminal application.
Step 1 -- Click on the shutdown option
For restarting the Linux server, you must have the root user or super user privilege.
You can restart the server from either the command line or from the user interface. In the status bar, move to the gear icon and click on the shutdown option.
Step 2 -- Click on the restart button
With that done, you will see that there are three options; Restart, Cancel and Shutdown. Click on the Restart option and this will restart your server.
Step 3 -- Reboot command
Another way to restart the server is through the command line. Now let's move on the terminal and over there, type the command "reboot". Once you are done typing, hit the enter key on your keyboard.
This will reboot your Linux server from the command line.
