Description from the creator

When a recipe calls for a puff pastry dough you may not want to make one yourself, especially since buying frozen is an excellent alternative. More video at Cook123.com

TRANSCRIPT:
I have a piece of puff pastry. And I like to use puff pastry because it's much better than traditional pie crust. It cooks up firm. It has nice texture, bakes well, it's crispy. Perfect bottom for this tart.

When you buy frozen puff pastry, it's usually folded in thirds like this. Unroll it. Let it defrost. And then just give it a light little roll. I'm using a 9 and 1/2-inch tart pan, so I just want to make sure that I'm covering that. What I also use is a little template. Get my knife, and just going to cut around my template.

Now really, don't throw this away. If you want to cut it up until slices. Through some butter on it. Throw some cinnamon, some sugar. Put this in the oven. Give it to the kids. It's excellent. It's like candy.

I like to make tarts. Started making them maybe 15 years ago. We went away on vacation and there was this place that had homemade pies, and they were $40 for a pie. And I bought one, and I said, this has to be a damn good pie. It wasn't a damn good pie. It was a $40 waste of pie. So we just decided we could do better.

So now I rolled it out. It's cut. And I'm going to put it in the refrigerator for about a half hour, just to get it nice and firm.
