How to Apologize to Your Clients
ChannelTom RossDescription from the creator
Episode 85: How to apologize to your clients
In today's episode we talk about how to apologize to your clients when you mess up or miss a deadline.
I used to be terrible at this. When I was younger I had a lot of excuses and reasons it was okay that I missed work. I would actually manufacture elaborate schemes to extend deadlines because I was always working right up against a deadline.
You don't want to be that person who is perpetually excusing themselves. So the first step is to organize well so that you create a reputation as someone who keeps their word, delivers on time, etc. That way, when you do have moments that warrant an apology, it comes from a trustworthy place.
Here's what needs to be included in an apology to clients:
1. Empathize
2. Complete honesty and open communication
3. Offer a solution
4. Be proactive about preventing the situation in the future
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU REALLY DROPPED THE BALL ON SOMETHING?
