How to be polite

I would like to share some very simple, yet rewarding pointers on being polite. From a very young age, my father always told me to be polite. He promised me it would pay off. And it has. Ten fold. He taught me these manners when I was a youngin', and still to this day I use them. I also constantly try to learn new ways to approach strangers, and handling random day to day interactions. So here are some of the pointers needed to begin your journey in being well mannered.
1. Don't get discouraged. Others may not be anywhere near as polite as you.
2. Call women " miss ". They feel old when you say " ma'am ". Only uses " Mrs. " if you know she is a married woman.
3. Call men " sir ". Same concept as women, some will feel old, but others expect it.
4. Hold open doors, allow women and children to go first in all instances.
5. Say, "please ", "thank you", "excuse me", and "you're welcome".
6. Use verbal communication to explain your feelings, and use non-verbal communication to highlight your sincerity.
7. Don't be polite ONLY with strangers. Be polite in your home, in your friends' home, at work, and everywhere. There is no such thing as too much.
8. Practice makes perfect.
9. The rewards of being polite are endless. You will make new friends, maybe meet a new girl or boy to date, get discounts on food and drink, bigger tips as a waiter, and people will generally offer help or services to you if they happen to be in a position to do so.
10. Don't just be polite 10 out of 11 times. Be polite 11 out of 11, because people remember that one time you weren't polite, instead of the 10 times you were.
