Hi. My name’s Damian. I’m a bartender here at Liquid Kitty in West LA California. And we’re gonna talk a little bit about the Sea Breeze. The Sea breeze is in the family of vodka juice drinks. It made a huge change around the ‘20s and they kind of went away for a while during prohibition. And they made a huge resurgence in the ‘80s.When I first started bartending in the early 80’s, my dad, the first thing he taught me how to make is the Sea Breeze. And they were the most popular drinks in the ‘80s. And I think I made them all the way up until the ‘90s and they kind of lost their popularity when the martini crazed came into happen. But it’s a very simple drink.
[There are a few drinks that can easily be confused with the Sea Breeze: Greayhound, Bay Breeze, and the Cape Cod.]
Collins glass, fill with ice. Take your vodka, we’re gonna use Ketel One today, you can use whatever you like. About and ounce and a half.
[1 ½ oz of vodka]
And then we’re gonna use grapefruit juice [1 oz of grapefruit juice]
Cranberry juice [1 oz of cranberry juice]
So if you want a lime, I don’t know if you want a lime on this but if you like, you can do that. Just a stirrer straw and that’s it. Same family as the Cape Cod, the Sex On the Beach and all those in the 80’s. The fruity vodka drinks.
