How to Prepare an Odor for AKC Scent Work (K9 Nose Work)

Want to teach your dog scent work using an odor and a scent vessel? In training, dogs learn to find scents just about anywhere you can hide them-usually in four elements: interior, exterior, containers, and vehicles.
In this episode, we prepare the odor and start with Birch, as this is the odor one starts competing with at the AKC entry level or NW1 level. We are using cut up q-tips with the paper stems rather than plastic that are cut in half. Over time, we will introduce the dog to identifying the scent and teach them to find the scent.
