With the latest iTunes update, you might have noticed trying to downgrade your iPod will give you an error. Same thing if you are even trying to update using Shift + Restore, this video will show you what to do in order to not worry about this.

On PC: Navigate to the path "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ and open the hosts file in a notepad or wordpad.

On MAC: Navigate to the path "/etc/" and open the hosts file with TextEdit.

Add "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" (without quotes) to the bottom of the file and save.
