Description from the creator

This video will help you unlock your AT&T cell phone in a few simple steps. whistleout.com/CellPhones/Guides/how-to-unlock-…

First, you have to meet some unlock requirements like paying off all your bills and making sure you own your phone. Then you can unlock your phone. The first step: Go to att.com/deviceunlock and fill out the form. To fill out that form you'll need:
- Your phone number and account information
- Your phone’s IMEI or MEID number (You can find this number by dialing *#06# on your AT&T phone)
The third step: AT&T will send you an email, be sure to click on the link sent in the email to confirm you want your phone unlocked
The last step: WAIT. AT&T could take up to 2 business days to unlock your phone.

What to do with an unlocked phone
With an unlocked phone you can travel to other countries and use a foreign SIM card, you can switch carriers, and unlocking it makes it easier to sell. You could sell it without unlocking it… but that's a crappy thing to do. Just keep in mind that not all phones work with each carrier. Before you switch make sure you go to your preferred future carrier and use their compatibility check to see if your phone is compatible. Generally speaking thought, AT&T phones work just fine with T-Mobile and most newer phones, in the last few years, work across all carriers.

AT&T Military Unlock
Now if you’re in the military there are some exceptions to unlocking your AT&T Phone. If your account payments are up to date, and you show proof of deployment, AT&T will unlock your phone without you fully paying it off first.

If unlocking your phone from the network is tedious and annoying to you, you can always buy a cell phone straight from the manufacturer. Those phones come unlocked and will work with whichever carrier you want to go to. But buying directly from the manufacturer is helpful in that regard, buying from individual carriers often gets you better prices and deals.
