Description from the creator

A cast iron bathtub weighs 250–400 lbs — removing one safely requires cutting it into sections or a very organized team lift. Here's both methods and which one is right for your situation.

The cut-it-up method: drill a hole in the tub, use an oscillating tool or angle grinder to cut it into 3–4 manageable sections, and carry each section out. Cast iron cuts slowly — plan for an hour of cutting time. The team-lift method works if you have 4+ people and a clear path to the door, but a full cast iron tub around a 90-degree corner is genuinely dangerous. Cutting is the safer solo or 2-person option.

📦 TOOLS USED:
→ DEWALT 20V MAX XR Oscillating Tool Kit 3-Speed (DCS356C1): amzn.to/3NyVDsH
→ DEWALT 20V Max Cordless Drill/Driver Kit (DCD771C2): amzn.to/3ZBoT8c
→ Blaster Penetrating Catalyst 11 oz: amzn.to/3KHJz78

Protect the tile and floor during removal — cast iron edges are unforgiving on surfaces. Lay plywood or cardboard everywhere the tub will be dragged or set down. A dropped cast iron section goes through tile, subfloor, or whatever is below it.

💡 PRO TIP: Wear hearing protection when cutting cast iron — it's significantly louder than cutting steel or PVC. Heavy leather gloves are essential — freshly cut cast iron edges are razor-sharp with no flexibility. Budget for blade replacement; cast iron eats oscillating blades.
