How To Set Autocommit In MySQL Server In Ubuntu Linux

This guide explains how to check, enable, or disable the autocommit feature in MySQL Server running on Ubuntu Linux without using code blocks.

Step 1: Check Current Autocommit Status

Log in to your MySQL shell using the command sudo mysql -u root -p.

Check the current status of the autocommit variable by running SELECT @@autocommit;. A value of 1 means autocommit is enabled, while 0 means it is disabled.

Step 2: Configure Autocommit

To disable autocommit for the current session, run the command SET autocommit = 0;.

To enable autocommit for the current session, run the command SET autocommit = 1;.

To change the global autocommit setting for all future connections, run SET GLOBAL autocommit = 0; or SET GLOBAL autocommit = 1;.

Step 3: Verify the Changes

Re-run the command SELECT @@autocommit; to verify that your configuration update was applied successfully.
