A lot of people ask my how to act around your ex if you're trying to get back together again.

And when they ask me this, my answer is usually: Don't!

All kidding aside, you really shouldn't "act" around your ex at all. You should be completely natural and 100% yourself when you are around your ex.

Doing anything else is going to come across as fake or phoney.

And trust me, you can't just "fake it until you make it" with your ex. After all, the two of you were together and very close and intimate with each other. You probably know them very well, and you could probably tell if they were putting on an act.

Likewise, they can probably also see right through you if you put on an act around them too.

So, you want to be completely yourself when you are around your ex.

Now, obviously you don't want to beg and plead or do anything desperate.

The distinction there is between "good" and "bad" vulnerability. The bad sort of vulnerability with your ex is when you are using your ex as a means to an end (getting back together) rather than just wanting and enjoying what you actually want (connecting with your ex).

Get clear on that first and foremost.

And remember, don't act around your ex.

I’ll also share with you my painfully embarrassing experience when I ran into my ex in public and what happened when I tried to put on an act around my ex.

I really hope that you don’t do what I did in this particular situation.

But I see a lot of people try to do this all the time.

Instead be open and forthright. Be transparent and you actually have the opportunity to create a positive interaction that could bring you and your ex closer together.

So, if you really want to know how to act around your ex if you run into them in public or otherwise, remember to be open and authentic.

By practicing these skills on a consistent and regular basis, you’ll be able to be ready and prepared if and when you run into your ex in public or if you end up meeting up with them in a planned sort of way like a coffee date.
