Composting for beginners: how to compost at home the easy way, and how to build a free pallet compost bin out of wood pallets. This is my quick, to-the-point composting 101 guide for your vegetable garden.

I cover why composting matters, what materials you need, hot pile vs cold pile composting, a compost bin vs a compost tumbler, and how to build a compost pile from pallets, so you can start composting today. I skip store-bought compost starters and toss some garden soil into each new pile to bring in the microbes.

⚠️ UPDATE: I made an error in this video. Composting is most effective at about 30 parts brown (carbon) to 1 part green (nitrogen), and that ratio is by weight, not volume. Helpful chart: extension.unh.edu/resource/composting-home-gard…
