In this tutorial, you'll learn how you can make your Windows 8.1 Operating System look and feel a little bit more like Windows 7 by installing the Classic Shell utility.

Step # 1 -- Downloading Classic Shell

First, go to "www.classicshell.net" and click "Download Now", you'll be redirected to SourceForge and the download should automatically start in 5 seconds. When it is finished, click the file that appears in your download bar.

Step # 2 -- Installing Classic Shell

Click "Next" three times, and then click "Install". You may be prompted by User Account Control, if so, just click "Yes". When the installation is complete, click "Finish" and close the document that opens up.

Step # 3 -- Setting Classic Shell Skins

You should automatically be given a Start Menu, go ahead and click the seashell icon where the start menu typically is. A window will open asking you what type of skin you would like, you can either choose "Classic", "XP", or "Windows Vista/7". We will use "Windows Vista/7", click that, and when prompted click "Yes" and then "OK".

Step # 4 -- Using Classic Shell

Go ahead and click the Sea Shell where the start menu is again, you'll see that you now have a start menu very similar to that used in Windows 7.
