Description from the creator

Rotted window frames allow water infiltration, air leakage, and eventually structural damage — but full window replacement isn't always necessary. In many cases you can repair a rotted wood window frame with epoxy wood filler and restore it to a condition that's actually more rot-resistant than the original wood. In this tutorial, we show you the complete epoxy repair process: probing to find all the soft, rotted wood, treating the remaining wood with liquid epoxy consolidant to harden softened fibers, filling the cavity with two-part epoxy wood filler, shaping the repair to match the original profile while the epoxy is workable, sanding the cured repair, and applying primer and paint for a weatherproof finish. We also cover when rot damage is too extensive for epoxy repair and full frame replacement is the right call. Done right, an epoxy window repair adds years of service life for a fraction of replacement cost.
