How to Remove Foreign particles or Objects From Eyes Using an Onion

Onions contain a chemical called, propanethial, S-Oxide, also known as the, lachrymatory, factor.

This L.F. factor is defined by how it impacts our lacrimal glands, or tear glands.

While cutting an onion there are cells that are broken up, releasing an enzyme called allinase, producing various chemicals, one of which turns into L.F.. When L.F. comes into contact with the eye, it signals to the brain, that there is an irritant present.

This signal causes the brain to react in a defensive way, triggering the tear glands.

The teer glands are located above each eye, and are used to, supply teer fluids to the eye.

The Teer ducts are used to drain any excessive fluid into the nose.

In the instance foreign debris becomes lodged on the eye, before trying to remove it by introducing additional foreign objects to the eye, such as saline solution, fingers or q-tips, try cutting an onion to stimulate tears, and help flush the debris away naturally.

Perhaps a few minutes’ of crying may be all that is needed to solve the problem quickly, and naturally.
