How to Remove Something from the Eye Using Saline Solution

Having an eyelash, or any type of debris in your eye can be irritating.

However, one of the easiest, and safest methods, to hremove foreign particles from the eye, can simply be with the use of saline solution.

Unlike splashing water in the eye, saline solution provides a little more pressure during the rinsing process, which may help dislodge the debris.

When using this method have a friend help and follow these steps.

Wash hands with soap and water.
Sit in a well-lit area.
Gently examine the eye to find the object.
Pull the lower lid down, and have the person look up.
Then hold the upper lid and look down.
Locate foreign object.
Gently irrigate the surface of the eye with the saline solution.

In most cases, this method will wash away any foreign debris.

However, if issue persists or you experience:

abnormal vision.
Pain, or redness.
or the sensation the object is still in the eye after it was object is removed.

Seek immediate medical attention.
