Description from the creator

By avoiding common mistakes, you can kill invasive English ivy easily. This video explains how to do it. Visit Green Shoots www.greenshootsonline.com for the foam herbicide dispensers mentioned in this video.

0:12 - First step, prepare! Are you certain the vine is English ivy (Hedera helix)? If so, attack ivy climbing trees first. Assemble the necessary tools. For the herbicide dispenser, we recommend one of the foam herbicide dispensers from Green Shoots, greenshootsonline.com.
1:46 - Second step, cut the vines climbing the tree. It is critical that you follow these instructions for the proper way to do this.
2:16 - Third step, apply the foam herbicide. Be sure to apply the foam weed killer to a freshly cut stump. The video also explains other key points to make the herbicide application most effective.

English ivy ( Hedera helix) is highly invasive in North America and other parts of the world. It can overtake forests and kill native trees and understory plants. This presentation describes how to use Green Shoots Foam Herbicide system to kill English ivy vines. The Green Shoots system is effective because:
- it is highly precise;
- the foam weed killer clings to the target weed surface; and
- the foam weed killer dries slowly increasing absorption.

The Green Shoots foam herbicide system – available from greenshootsonline.com/ - has several advantages over conventional spray systems for treating ivy. First, Green Shoots dispensers are highly precise and selective. The foam can be discharged very slowly and placed on the target location. Second, once placed on the target, the foam herbicide sticks to the foliage or plant tissue. It doesn’t drip like liquids from a conventional spray system. Third, the foam herbicide dries slowly. This increases translocation of the herbicide so that the roots can be killed. Fourth, the foam herbicide is highly concentrated. This ensures that the mixture is sufficiently powerful to do the job. As explained in the video, using Green Shoots foam weed killer is easy. The herbicide can be placed directly on foliage – either the green leaves or green stems. Alternatively, if you want to remove the ivy immediately, you can cut them and apply the foam herbicide to the remaining stump (as demonstrated in this video). If you do a stump application, be sure to apply the foam herbicide immediately after cutting. Ivies have extensive root systems, so be sure to apply the foam herbicide to each stem that you can find.
