How to use Content-Aware Fill in Photoshop to remove objects from a photo in a couple of simple steps. It works by analyzing the rest of your image and automatically filling a selected area with matching texture and color — here we use it to remove a stray dog running through a beach photo.

THE STEPS
1. Duplicate the background layer first, so you can always get back to the original.
2. Make a rough selection around whatever you want to remove — a Lasso Tool selection is fine, it doesn't need to be precise.
3. Go to Edit, then Fill, choose "Content-Aware" from the dropdown, and hit OK.
4. If the result isn't perfect, undo (Cmd/Ctrl+Z), adjust your selection, and try again — it often does better the second time.
5. Clean up any remaining detail by hand with the Clone Stamp Tool.
6. Toggle the duplicated layer's visibility to compare your before and after.
