How to copy and paste to and from a PuTTY window

• Copy-Paste operation for Putty is very easy, but different from the ways it is done for most other programs.
• You will be logged into a PuTTY session before beginning.
• Left trick and drag to make selection. As soon as you go to mouse button, selection is instantly copied to your clipboard and ready to be pasted.
• Click off the selection to deselect it. Paste selection to another window. Right click on window and click on Paste. Selection will be copied and pasted successfully.
• You can copy and paste SSH command stored in Notepad window. Right click and copy the selection. Return to PuTTY. Paste link. Click on Enter button to execute the command.
• You can select and copy a rectangular region in PuTTY. It is useful to copy filenames in directory listing. Hold down ALT and click and drag from top left corner to bottom right.
Go to Notepad. Click on Paste button. Rectangular region copied by you will be pasted successfully.
