Description from the creator

The REVERSE CRUNCH is an extremely effective exercise. It works strongly on the abs. It helps to curl the hips off from the floor, to increase and stimulate the muscles of the lower abdomen.

The hips have to be lifted a few inches above the floor in this exercise. The muscles which are involved, during the Reverse Crunch are: the rectus abdominus, the transverse abdominals, the lower back extensors, and even a slight use of the obliques abdominals groups. This workout definitely acts well on the lower abdomen, when compared to the standard crunch. Hence it is more beneficial. The exercise also improves balance, posture and overall strength. This type of a crunch flattens the stomach and increases metabolism as well.

# Let us go through some of the steps of the reverse crunch in order to perform them correctly:

* Upward Motion:
Lie on your back on a mat, on the floor. Put your hands flat on the floor. Keep your legs perpendicular to the floor, with the knees at a right angle and legs crossed. Gradually curl up, with the legs lifting the hips off the ground with the help of your abdominals. The motion will be complete, once your lower back is slightly off the floor.

* Downward Motion:
Slowly lower your back towards the floor. Do not allow your back to come down with a crash. Come down, until your back just grazes the ground. Then repeat the exercise.
To improve your lower abs, in terms of strength, toning up the muscles and flexibility, please follow the above guidelines carefully, for best results!
