Description from the creator

Hey everyone! These Easter chick cookies are a simple and delicious recipe for Easter, and can be made last minute with ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry! This is also just an awesome recipe for sugar cutout cookies -- I love how perfectly they keep their shape after baking! I'll be featuring more fan photos in an upcoming video, so be sure to share your creations with me on my Facebook page (on.fb.me/14LNQ1d) or Instagram @kawaiisweeteats with the hashtag #kawaiisweetworld (bit.ly/1iyV1jH)!

Sugar Cookie Recipe adapted from Just a Taste (bit.ly/JesO40)

Ingredients:
1½ cups flour
¼ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
¾ cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:
1. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
2. Beat butter until smooth, then add in sugar and cream together until light and fluffy.
3. Mix in egg, then stir in vanilla.
4. Add dry ingredients, and beat until just combined. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour or place in freezer for 20 min.
5. Roll out dough onto floured work surface, and cut out 2.5" circles. Place cookies onto cookie sheet lined with Silpat or parchment paper, and place into fridge for 15 min. This will help the cookies retain their shape during baking.
6. Bake for 9-11 minutes until pale golden, and transfer to wire rack. Cool completely before frosting.
Frosting recipe from Food Network (bit.ly/1gJnItv)

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups powdered sugar (same as confectioners or icing sugar)
½ cup (1 stick) softened butter
½ tsp vanilla extract
1-2 T. milk
Yellow and red gel food coloring

Directions:

1. Sift powdered sugar over butter, and cream together. Mixture will be crumbly.
2. Mix in vanilla extract and milk. Add milk as needed until desired consistency is reached.
3. For chick body frosting, add in yellow food coloring. For orange frosting, scoop out 1/4 cup of yellow frosting into a separate bowl and add in a tiny amount of red food coloring.
