Description from the creator

1- Relax and take your time. If this means sit in the bathroom for a few minutes reading shampoo labels until you relax, that's fine.

2- Wash your hands well. Set a clean small towel or washcloth in arms reach. Unwrap the tampon and place it on the towel.

3 - When your ready, pull down your pants/skirt and panties.

4- Put one foot on a chair or the toilet, or sit on the toilet with your legs apart. Some girls squat.

5 - If you're using a tampon with an applicator make sure the string is hanging outside the barrel.

6 - Take your non-predominant hand and spread your vagina lips apart.

7 - Find your vagina. This may sound silly, but this is what makes the idea of tampons so scary- many girls are not familiar with that part of their body. Your vagina is between your anus and your urethra.

8 - Hold the applicator and place your index finger at the end of the applicator (the part where the string is hanging out). Hold the tampon at the finger grips [most applicators have them].

9 - Slide the tampon into your vagina aiming toward your tailbone. Stop when your fingers touch your body

10 - Push the tampon in until the smaller tube is inside the larger tube.

11 - Remove the applicator. Make sure the string is hanging out.

Tips:

Go slow!
Don't panic and be calm.
Relax!
Don't pull the string too hard!
Know your parts (every woman/girl should know her body)
If you feel too nervous, use pads until you feel you want to try again.
Put the tampon in at an angle.
Make sure never to use a tampon with either a ripped wrapper or none at all.
Take a deep breath.
Lubricating the tampon with a water based lubricant can help to make insertion easier
