How To Duplicate 1:1 HDD PortaCruiser 350108 - Aleratec Tips & Tricks Part 1

Hello, my name is Chris. In this series, I will show you how to perform a duplication with your Aleratec HDD PortaCruiser, how to use the unit as a hard drive dock and some troubleshooting tips. In this particular video, I will show you the duplication procedure.

If connected, please disconnect your USB cable before duplicating. Connect the power adapter to the PortaCruiser and to an available power outlet. Connect your source and target drives into their appropriate connectors. If you are using IDE drives, use the appropriate cables and connectors, which can be purchased separately (P/N: 240146). Make sure your IDE drives jumper settings are set to Master. Switch the power to the “On” position and wait for the duplicator to initialize. During the initialization process, the display will show “Detect Drives”. The display will show “Found 2 devices” when both drives are detected. When the duplicator is ready to begin copying, the duplicator will display “1. Copy HDD”. You will also see the copying size. To begin the duplication process, press the ENT button. The display will show: “Detecting Drives, Please wait…”. The LED’s should turn blue and the duplication process should begin. The LCD screen will display the transfer rate, percentage copied, data remaining to be copied and approximate time remaining. When the duplication is complete, you will hear a beep. If the duplication was successful, the display will show: “1. Copy HDD OK: 01”. You may press ESC and power off the unit if you would like to remove the hard drives.

TIP: The duplication process will not start if the target drive's size capacity is less than the source drive's size capacity. Please make sure the target drive is exactly the same size or larger than the source drive. In some rare cases, hard drives that are labeled as having the same capacity actually have small differences in capacity, which can cause the duplication to fail.
