Hello, my name is Chris. In this video, I will give you brief general tips and troubleshooting advice for the Aleratec 1:3 HDD Copy Dock Duplicator.

-Make sure the unit is powered off when inserting and ejecting drives.
-Make sure the source and target LED’s are blue before duplicating. This will ensure the drives are recognized before starting the duplication process.
-Choose a good location for your copy dock that is free of excessive dust. Be careful not to place the unit in direct sunlight or expose it to high temperatures, high humidity, electromagnetic radiation, mechanical vibration or shock.

The copying process may not start for several reasons. The most common reason is that the source drive’s size capacity is larger than the target drive’s size capacity. The target drive’s size capacity must be exactly the same or larger than the source drive’s.
Note that in some rare cases, hard drives that are labeled as having the same capacity actually have small differences in capacity, which can cause the duplication to fail. Verify the mode is switched to “Duplicator Mode” and not “PC Mode”. If you are still having issues with the copy process not starting, please contact Aleratec Support.

If drives are not showing up after the drivers installed when docking, check the status of the drives with Disk Management on Windows computers or with Disk Utility on Mac computers. A disk signature conflict may exist if you dock drives that have just been duplicated, as they are exact duplicates. You may have to eject one or more of the drives and change their volume names prior to docking simultaneously. Verify the mode is switched to “PC Mode” and not “Duplicator Mode”. Also, check that the USB cable is plugged in to a USB port on your computer.

LBA errors usually occur when the duplicator cannot read a specific address on a source drive or write to a specific address on one or more target drives and does not necessarily mean that there is an issue your duplicator. If these errors persist, please contact Aleratec Support.
