[INTRO]: Hello, my name is Chris. In this video, I will provide some general tips and troubleshooting information for the 1:5 HDD Copy Dock Advanced duplicator.

[General Tips]
-Make sure the copy dock is powered off, or at a minimum, power off individual drive bays prior to inserting or ejecting HDD’s.
-Make sure the source and target LED’s are blue before duplicating or sanitizing HDD’s. This will ensure the HDD’s are recognized before starting duplication or sanitization processes.
-Choose a good location for your copy dock that is free of excessive dust. Be careful not to place the unit in direct sunlight or expose it to high temperatures, high humidity, electromagnetic radiation, mechanical vibration, or shock.

[General Tips – Protecting your Copy Dock & HDD’s]
To get the most out of your copy dock and extend the life of your HDDs, it is best to make a practice of protecting your copy dock and HDDs. One of the easiest and most important steps to protect your copy dock and HDDs is to ensure the drive bays you would like to use are powered off before inserting or ejecting your drives and waiting for the drives to stop spinning before pulling them out. Another important step to protect your copy dock and HDDs is not to subject them to excessive vibration, such as placing your copy dock on a surface close to heavy machinery or mechanical equipment that produces a significant amount of vibration. Excessive vibration may damage components of the copy dock and may possibly cause head crashes of HDDs.

[Troubleshooting - Duplication process failing/not starting]
Please make sure all target drives have exactly the same size or larger size capacities than the source drive. The duplication process may not start or may fail if any of the target drives size capacities are less than the source drive’s size capacity. [Show shot of “Fail T: HD too small] In some rare cases, hard drives that are labeled as having the same capacity actually have small differences in capacity, which can cause the duplication to fail. The blue LED will go out on drives that have failed during the duplication process.

[Troubleshooting - Drives not showing up when docked]
Verify the mode is set to “Link Host” and not “Standalone mode”. Also, check that the USB or eSATA cable is plugged in on both ends of your computer and copy dock. If drives are not showing up after the drivers installed when docking, check the status of the drives with Disk Management on Windows computers or with Disk Utility on Mac computers. Disk signature conflicts may exist if you simultaneously dock drives that have just been duplicated, as they are exact duplicates. These conflicts will need to be resolved prior to being mounted to the OS properly. In rare cases, you may have to eject one or more of the drives prior to docking simultaneously. You may also want to change some of the drives’ volume names to assist you in identifying specific drives.
